UK Alumni Awards: applications open for Mauritian candidates
A new edition of the UK Alumni Awards has been launched by the British Council. Aiming to celebrate the outstanding achievements of the UK’s international alumni around the world, the seventh edition intends to bring forward award winners and finalists who are leaders in their fields and who have used their experience of studying at a UK university to make a positive contribution to their communities, industries and countries.
Whereas the Study UK Alumni Awards aim to celebrate and showcase the impact and value of a UK higher education and raise the international profile of UK alumni and their former universities.
The awards per se are also opened to alumni in Mauritius. Those who have either studied in the UK, at an officially recognised provider of UK university degree level study for a minimum of a term or semester, or those who have been awarded a full UK degree level qualification, or higher, by a UK university through a local institution overseas, within the last 15 years, may send their applications up to 30 October 2020. All eligible applicants will be put forward for the global Alumni Awards, and national Alumni Awards which will be hosted in participating countries.
While the finalists and winners of the global Alumni Awards will be announced in 2021, Mauritius will be hosting, in the presence of distinguished guests, a country level ceremony, where the finalist will be announced between December 2020 and January 2021. Global Award winners will have the opportunity to raise their international profile, expand their professional networks, and to enhance their careers, through a professional networking visit to the UK, in light with Covid-19 restrictions, while national level winners shall be exposed to extensive press and PR coverage.
