This week, Business Magazine analyses the following three charts pertaining to Inflation rates, Core inflation rates and Inflation rate excluding alcoholic beverages and tobacco.

Inflation rates The headline (annual average) inflation rate fell to 3.9% for year 2012 from 6.5% for year 2011. The year-on-year inflation rates went down too from 4.8% to 3.2%.

Core inflation rates Headline Core1 inflation and Core2 inflation stood at 3.3% and 3.0% respectively for the 12-month period ended December 2012. The respective year-on-year Core1 inflation and Core2 inflation rates were 3.2% and 3.0%.

Inflation rate excluding alcoholic beverages and tobacco The headline inflation rate excluding alcoholic beverages and tobacco nose-dived to 2.6% for year 2012 from 5.3% for year 2011.
