The New India Assurance Company Limited is the largest non-life Insurance Company of India. It is the only Indian Multinational General Insurance Company with Registered Office in Mumbai. The Company was incorporated in July 1919 in Mumbai (erstwhile Bombay) by the House of Tatas and was the first Indian Composite Insurance Company.
Overseas, New India has operations in 29 countries represented through Branches and Agencies in 29 Countries, Associate Companies in 6 Countries and Wholly-Owned Subsidiaries in 2 Countries.

The Company has been rated as ‘B++’ (Good) by M/S A. M.. Best (Europe) Company Limited for its financial strength, service and capacity to meet policyholders’ obligations. The rating reflects New India’s excellent capital position. It is the only Insurance Company in Mauritius to be rated by Global Agency.
Mauritius Operations
- NEW INDIA ASSURANCE was registered as a company in the year 1924 in Mauritius.
- The first operations were started in 1935.
- The operations were converted into a Branch Office effective 1958. It is serving the Mauritian Nation since 1935 for 85 years
