Standard Chartered Bank (Mauritius) Ltd was established in 2002 and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Standard Chartered Bank PLC with a presence in Mauritius.

The franchise is a corporate and institutional business that is able to leverage on its extensive network in Asia, Africa and Middle East, for the benefit of clients that use Mauritius International Financial Centre as a trade and investment hub.

TRADE AND LIQUIDITY HUB

Standard Chartered Mauritius provides liquidity management solutions that can be tailored to satisfy the needs of regional treasury centres (RTCs) and centralised procurement centres (CPCs). In 2013, the Bank launched its Liquidity Management platform, a unique and differentiated digital tool that supports the operations of RTCs and CPCs by providing them with a single and unified access point to manage their operations from Mauritius.

REGIONAL SECURITIES SERVICES HUB

The Bank holds a full-fledged banking license and both custodian Non-Collective Investment Scheme and Collective Investment Scheme licenses. The Mauritius franchise serves as one of the four regional securities services hub for Standard Chartered and its core custody offering includes clearing and settlement, safekeeping of assets, corporate actions, account services, market information and foreign exchange capabilities.

The local onshore custody team is experienced and knowledgeable, having developed a particular expertise and know-how of 17 African markets, offering clients access to local on ground footprint and non-footprint agents mastering hot topics and market highlights. They are responsible for managing the Bank’s portfolio, which provides tailored solutions to serve the world’s largest global custodians, broker-dealers, fund managers and institutional investors.

SUSTAINABLE FINANCE

It is creating sustainable finance products to support sustainable development. Its frameworks, developed in collaboration with Sustainalytics, the leading provider of ESG and corporate governance research, set out what qualifies as ‘sustainable’ and ‘green’ products. It works with its clients and stakeholders to provide financial products and services to people and businesses to help drive sustainable development, economic growth and job creation.

COMMUNITY INVESTMENT

Standard Chartered Mauritius is committed to engaging with and giving back to the Mauritian community through its engagement programmes that include: The Goal programme, an empowerment curriculum for girls, has been rolled out in 31 secondary schools with a reach out to more than 5,000 girls aged 12 to 15 years old since 2017.
