The Open University of Mauritius (OU) is a public university established on 12 July 2012 under the Open University of Mauritius ACT 2010. Specialised in open and distance learning, OU delivers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including PhD and DBA and a number of short courses (CPDs, soft skills) through the blended approach. To respond to the needs of the industry, the University awards degrees in fields such as Management, Finance, Law, Computer Science, Marketing, Artificial Intelligence, Media, Design, Education, Statistics, Public Health, and Social Work, amongst others.
Through its dedicated e-learning platform, OU provides self-learning materials to its learners, who can study in the comfort of their homes, at any time and from anywhere in the world. OU’s hybrid approach also comprises face-to-face tutorials, either on campus or online to strengthen the learning experience. Following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the University demonstrated its readiness to deliver seamless learning and teaching as well as steady support through its robust digital ecosystem.
It is worth noting that the University organised its first online examination in 2021 as an option for its learners who could not participate in conventional examinations.
