Open University of Mauritius
The Open University of Mauritius (OU) is a public university, established on 12 July 2012 and specializes in open and distance learning. OU delivers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including PhD and DBA, Continuous Professional Development courses and a number of soft skills courses.
Study materials are accessible on a special e-learning platform and students are offered the opportunity to meet lecturers for face-to-face enrichment sessions. Following the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, OU has demonstrated its preparedness for online delivery without disrupting the experience of its learners. The University made use of its existing robust e-learning infrastructure to deliver seamless online tutorials and webinars to its students, while providing them with uninterrupted support through several methods of communication.
The University boasts the rapid development of its international network by having close working ties with prestigious institutions like the Commonwealth of Learning, Imperial College London, John Wiley and Sons, Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh.
The OUM has also provided crucial support to the Primary and Secondary teachingcommunity during the curfew period, through recording and preparation of online videos targeted at students for broadcast on the Mauritius Broadcasting Corporation (MBC).
