The University of Mauritius

The University of Mauritius (UoM) was founded in 1965 and is the premier University of the island. Since 2017, the UoM has embarked on a modernisation strategy, positioning itself as a research-engaged and entrepreneurial institution. The new vision, centered on innovation, empowers the UoM to play an active role in building the human, intellectual, business and social capital of the country. To achieve this vision, UoM is not only actively developing
the tripartite relationship (UoM, Public & Private Sectors) but is also engaging closely with the Community for the economic and social progress of the country. Since August 2019, the UoM has adopted the Learner Centered Credit System (LCCS) which will further enhance independent learning and promote outcome-based Programmes
for the benefit of the student population.

The UoM is collaborating with overseas institutions namely the University of Arizona, USA, CY Cergy Paris Université, France and University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI), Canada to offer dual degree programs. The UoM is also championing the SDGs and the development of an eco and smart campus. The UoM Agri-Tech Park was
officially launched in 2020 to develop smart agriculture and food security and promote agribusiness through an incubator. The UoM now hosts the Technical Secretariat of the National Road Safety Observatory. To foster
environmental sustainability, the UoM is setting up the Observatoire de Recherche en Environnement in close partnership with the Ministry of Environment, Solid Waste Management and Climate Change.
