Market Capitalisation crosses the Rs 400 billion mark

u003cpu003eu003cstrongu003eThe local stock market posted strong gains during the week and saw the market capitalisation of the Official Market crossing the Rs 400 billion mark. The SEM-ASI and the SEMTRI-ASI gained 0.68% and 0.73% respectively at the end of the days under review (20 – 27 June 2017).u003c/strongu003eu003c/pu003eu003cpu003eAt market close of Tuesday 27u003csupu003ethu003c/supu003e June 2017, the total market capitalisation of the SEM-ASI constituents stood at Rs 400.37 billion. The total return index, SEMTRI, closed Tuesdayu0026rsquo;s session at its all-time high level of 7,445.65 points, gaining 82.29 points in one week. The SEMDEX ended the same session at 2,115.42 points. Since the start of 2017, the SEMTRI and the SEMDEX have achieved a growth of 18.01% and 16.98% respectively. The SEM-10 Index, which comprises the ten largest and most liquid stocks, closed at 411.69 points. The SEM sustainability index, SEMSI, ended the same day at 117.56 points.u003c/pu003eu003cpu003eTotal transactions amounted to Rs 121.5 million during the week. The top five trading securities were: MCB Group Limited (MCBG), SBM Holdings Ltd (SBMH), MDIT Ltd, Northfield International School Ltd Notes (NORT) and CIEL Limited (CIEL). They were exchanged for a total value of Rs 36.7 million, Rs 34.5 million, Rs 6.6 million, Rs 5.1 million and Rs 3 million respectively.
