Market ends week in negative territory

The all share index, SEM-ASI ended the session of Monday 19u003csupu003ethu003c/supu003e September 2016 at 1,815.91 points, losing 7.45 points during the week. The SEMDEX closed the same session at 1,794.17 points. The Total Return Index, SEMTRI, closed the session of Monday at 6,179.51 points against 6,215.57 points last Monday. The SEM-10 Index, which comprises the ten largest and most liquid stocks, closed at 341.65 points. The SEM sustainability index, SEMSI, ended the same day at 99.16 points. The total market capitalisation of the SEM-ASI constituents stood at Rs 323.78 billion at market close on Monday.u003c/pu003eu003cpu003eTotal transactions amounted to Rs 182.2 million during the week. The top five trading securities wereMCB Group Ltd (MCBG), SBM Holdings Ltd (SBMH), CIEL Limited, Compagnie de Beau Vallon Bonds (CBVL Bonds) and New Mauritius Hotels Ltd (NMHL). They were exchanged for a total value of Rs 93.3 million, Rs 27.8 million, Rs 12.8 million, Rs 7.8 million and Rs 5.4 million respectively. The shares of MCBG, SMBM, CIEL, CBVL Bonds and NMHL closed at Rs 208.00, Rs 0.67, Rs 6.06, Rs 994.41 and Rs 20.20 on Monday 19u003csupu003ethu003c/supu003e September 2016.u003c/pu003eu003cpu003eAn analysis of the evolution of the prices of listed stocks indicates that out of the 64 stocks figuring on the Official List, 4 moved up during the week, 43 remained stable and 17 went down.
