Market ends week slightly down

u003cpu003eu003cstrongu003eThe local stock market was marked by a slight fall in market indices during the week (27 June – 4 July 2016). u003c/strongu003eu003cstrongu003eThe SEMDEX and the SEMTRI went down -0.14% at the end of the days under review.u003c/strongu003eu003c/pu003eu003cpu003eThe Total Return Index, SEMTRI, ended the session of Monday 4 July 2016 at 5,969.67 points, registering a fall of 8.55 points during the period under review. The All-share index, SEMDEX, closed the same session at 1,751.12 points against 1,753.63 points last Monday. The SEM-10 Index, which comprises the ten largest and most liquid stocks, closed at 337.57 points. The SEM sustainability index, SEMSI, ended the same day at 99.06 points. The market capitalisation stood at Rs 190 billion at market close on Monday.u003c/pu003eu003cpu003eTotal transactions during the week amounted to Rs 202.8 million. The top five traded securities were: MCB Group Ltd (MCBG), SBM Holdings Ltd (SBMH), Lux Island Resorts Ltd (LUX), New Mauritius Hotels Ltd (NMHL) and Greenbay Properties Limited (GFP). They were exchanged for a total value of Rs 78.4 million, Rs 40.8 million, Rs 10.1 million, Rs 9.7 million and Rs 8.3 million respectively. The shares of MCBG, SBMH, LUX, NMHL and GFP closed at Rs 211.00, Rs 0.63, Rs 57.50, Rs 20.20 and GBP 0.07 on Monday 4 July 2016.u003c/pu003eu003cpu003eAn analysis of the evolution of the prices of listed stocks indicates that out of the 62 stocks figuring on the Official List, 17 moved up during the week, 32 remained stable and 13 went down. The best performing stocks for the week were: Greenbay Properties Ltd (+16.67%), ENL Commercial Ltd (+5.93%), New Mauritius Hotels (P) (+5.91%), United Basalt Products Ltd (+3.75%) and Fincorp Investment Ltd (+2.63%).
