Market finishes in negative territory

The SEM-ASI and the SEMTRI-ASI lost -0.66% at the end of the days under review (24 – 31 October 2016).u003c/strongu003eu003c/pu003eu003cpu003eThe Total Return Index, SEMTRI-ASI, lost 41.35 points during the week, closing the session of Monday 31 October 2016 at 6,253.41 points. The all-share index, SEM-ASI, ended the same session at 1,830.07 points, losing 12.10 points in one week. Both the SEMDEX and The Total Return Index, SEMTRI, registered a loss of 1.03% in one week, closing the session of Monday 31 October at 1,802.35 points and 6,212.91 points respectively. The SEM-10 Index, which comprises the ten largest and most liquid stocks, closed at 343.96 points. The SEM sustainability index, SEMSI, ended the same day at 99.58 points. The total market capitalisation of the SEM-ASI constituents stood at Rs 332.06 billion at market close on Monday.u003c/pu003eu003cpu003eTotal transactions amounted to Rs 101.4 million during the week. The top five trading securities were: MCB Group Ltd (MCBG), Lux Island Resorts Ltd, SBM Holdings Ltd (SBMH), Belle Mare Holding Ltd (BMH) and Air Mauritius Ltd (AIRM). They were exchanged for a total value of Rs 23.2 million, Rs 13.1 million, Rs 8.4 million, Rs 7.7 million and Rs 5.2 million respectively. The shares of MCBG, Lux, SBMH, BMH and AIRM closed at Rs 213.00, Rs 59.25, Rs 6.88, Rs 26.00 and Rs 13.00 respectively on Monday 31 October 2016.u003c/pu003eu003cpu003eAn analysis of the evolution of the prices of listed stocks indicates that out of the 64 stocks figuring on the Official List, 7 moved up during the week, 39 remained stable and 18 went down.
