Market post gains during the week; DEMEX and DEMTRI reach their all-time high

At the end of these days, the SEMDEX and the SEMTRI went up 0.47% whereas the DEMEX and the DEMTRI progressed by 1.28 and 1.29% respectively.u003c/strongu003eu003c/pu003eu003cpu003eThe Total Return Index, SEMTRI, was at the end of Monday 4u003csupu003ethu003c/supu003e August 2014 at 6,792.62 points, growing by 32.11 points during the week. The All share index, SEMDEX, closed the same session at 2,099.56 points against 2,089.63 points a week earlier. The SEM-7 index, which comprises the seven largest and most liquid stocks, finished at 404.57 points. At market close on Monday, market capitalisation stood Rs 230.85 billion. Net foreign investments (Purchases-Sales) reached Rs 222.16 million at market close on Monday 4u003csupu003ethu003c/supu003e August 2014.u003c/pu003eu003cpu003eTotal transactions amounted to Rs 197.3 million during the week. The top five trading securities were: MCB Group Limited (MCBG), New Mauritius Hotels Ltd (NMHL), State Bank of Mauritius Ltd (SBM), Sun Resorts Ltd (SUN) and Vivo Energy Mauritius Ltd. They were exchanged for a total value of Rs 45.3 million, Rs 43.6 million, Rs 28.4 million, Rs 19.7 million and Rs 9.4 million. The shares of MCBG, NMHL, SBM, SUN and Vivo closed at Rs 215.00, Rs 87.00, Rs 1.07, Rs 42.50 and Rs 136.00 on Monday 4u003csupu003ethu003c/supu003e August 2014.u003c/pu003eu003cpu003eAn analysis of the evolution of the prices of listed stocks indicates that out of the 49 stocks figuring on the Official List, 13 moved up during the week, 27 remained stable and 9 went down. The best performing stocks for the week were: Promotion and Development Ltd (+3.87%), Sun Resorts Ltd (+3.66%), ENL Commercial Ltd (+1.90%), Air Mauritius Ltd (+1.21%) and CIEL Ltd (+1.16%).
