Market’s slide continues during the week

The local stock market lost ground during the week under review (9-16 November 2015). The SEMTRI, SEMDEX and SEMSI went down by 0.79%, 1.28% and 1.8% respectively.
The Total Return Index, SEMTRI, closed the session of Monday 16 November 2015 at 6,209.99 points, losing 49.74 points in one week. The All-share index, SEMDEX, ended the same day at 1,850.44 points. The SEM-10 Index, which comprises the ten largest and most liquid stocks, closed at 355.01points. The SEM sustainability index, SEMSI, finished Monday’s session at 97.20 points. The market capitalisation stood at Rs 206.07 billion at market close on Monday.
Total transactions amounted to Rs 224.3 million during the week. The top traded companies were: Rockcastle Real Estate Co. Ltd (ROCK), MCB Group Ltd (MCBG), New Mauritius Hotels Ltd (NMHL), SBM Holdings Ltd (SBMH) and Rogers & Co Ltd. They were exchanged for a total value of Rs 124 million, Rs 30.3 million, Rs 18.2 million, Rs 16.9 million and Rs 4.8 million. The shares of ROCK, MCBG, NMHL, SBMH and Rogers closed at USD 2.12, Rs 208, Rs 18, Rs 0.77 and Rs 28.70 on Monday 16 November 2015.
An analysis of the evolution of the prices of listed stocks indicates that out of the 55 stocks figuring on the Official List, 8 moved up during the week, 28 remained stable and 19 went down. The best performing stocks for the week were: Gamma-Civic (+7.60%), Air Mauritius Ltd (+1.91%), New Mauritius Hotels Ltd (P) (+0.92%), CIM Financial Services Ltd (+0.77%) and Terra Mauricia Ltd (+0.71%). The worst performers were: Belle Mare Holding (-3.85%), National Investment Trust Ltd (-3.66%), Sun Limited (-2.93%), Lottotech Ltd (-2.89%) and MCB Group Limited (-2.58%).
