SEMTRI reaches its highest level of 2013

u003cpu003eu003cstrongu003eThe local stock market soared during the week under review (9-16 September 2013) and saw the total return index, SEMTRI, close the session of Monday 16u003csupu003ethu003c/supu003e September 2013 at its highest level of 2013 (+1.3% over the week). The SEMDEX went up 0.78% at the end of the same days.u003c/strongu003eu003c/pu003eu003cpu003eThe SEMTRI closed at 6,158.80 points, gaining 79.30 points in one week. The All-share index, SEMDEX, ended the same session at 1,952.82 points. Since the start of 2013, the SEMTRI and the SEMDEX have registered double digit gains of 14.81% and 12.75% respectively. The SEM-7 index, which comprises the seven largest and most liquid stocks, closed at 378.72 points. At market close on Monday, market capitalisation reached Rs 198.41 billion. Foreign investorsu0026rsquo; exposure to the local market in terms of net investment (purchases-sales) since the beginning of 2013 amounted to Rs 659.31 million.u003c/pu003eu003cpu003eTransactions for the week under review totalled Rs 168.7 million and the top five traded securities for the week were: State Bank of Mauritius Ltd (SBM), The Mauritius Commercial Bank Ltd (MCB), Sun Resorts Ltd (SUN), Rogers u0026amp; Co. Ltd (ROGE) and MDIT Ltd. They were exchanged for a total value of Rs 60.3 million, Rs 57.1 million, Rs 14.5 million, Rs 4.8 million and Rs 4.7 million respectively during this time frame. The shares of SBM, MCB, SUN, ROGE and MDIT closed at Rs 1.00, Rs 193.25, Rs 31.70, Rs 186.00 and Rs 5.84 respectively on 16 September 2013.u003c/pu003eu003cpu003eAn analysis of the evolution of the prices of listed stocks indicates that out of the 45 stocks figuring on the Official List, 19 moved up during the week, 21 remained stable and 5 went down.
