Vickhram Katralh : “Counting on the Government’s moral and vocal support to do our job better”

Now that the deal between government and the Omega Ark group for the sale of the Apollo Bramwell Hospital is a done deal, the challenge is to have Omega Ark Hospital up and running and back on track to profitability and stability over the next six months, according to group Chairman Vickhram Katralh. During an interview with Business Magazine, he stressed on the fact that Omega Ark is counting on the moral and vocal support of government in order to be able to do their job better. Several hurdles were present during the conclusion of this deal, but not coming from the governmental side, Vickhram Katralh observed.

The relationship between Omega Ark and government have so far been cordial and without any political pressure or interference. The group came here on government’s invitation in September 2015.The focus is now on attracting Mauritian and international clientele. To do so, Omega Ark is counting on the power of spoken words; once service is back on top notch level in the hospital. It will also be engaging into promotional campaigns in foreign markets, as well as try to target areas yet untapped by private healthcare in Mauritius.

Omega Ark, through Omega Ark hospital, is here to stay it seems, since, as Vickhram Katralh puts it “there will not be a chance that we are going to give the hospital back to anybody else.” Aside from his high hopes for the hospital, the group plans to invest into more infrastructure in Mauritius in the near future, in order to make a positive difference to the island.
