FAST FOODS LTD was incorporated in 1984, and started manufacturing a range of meat products, in line with Government’s policy on import substitution.  The company offers an extensive assortment of chilled and frozen products, varying from burgers and sausages to cooked hams, which are readily available in all major retail outlets. In addition,  Fast Foods Ltd delivers its products to hotels and restaurants around the island. 

The company has been HACCP certified since 2006 and to-date it is still the only charcuterie in Mauritius to have achieved such certification.  Much emphasis is placed on Hygiene and Good Manufacturing Practices to ensure that its products are safe and of high-quality.  Fast Foods Ltd employs 175 full-time workers and is a member of the Association of Mauritian Manufacturers.

Augmentation de 26,1 % des exportations totales en décembre 2023


En décembre 2023, les importations totales ont augmenté de 5,2 % par rapport à novembre 2023 et ont diminué de 10,4 % par rapport à décembre 2022. En décembre 2023, les exportations totales ont augmenté de 26,1% par rapport à novembre 2023 et ont diminué de 6,6 % par rapport à décembre 2022. Les États-Unis (12,5 %), l’Afrique du Sud (12,5 %), la France (10,2 %), le Royaume-Uni (8,5 %), Madagascar (7,3 %) et l’Espagne (6,3 %) ont été les principales destinations de nos exportations, tandis que nos importations provenaient principalement de la Chine (18,5 %), de l’Inde (13,0 %), de l’Afrique du Sud (8,7 %), de l’Allemagne (5,0 %), des Émirats arabes unis (4,8 %) et du Brésil (4,4 %). La balance du commerce visible a montré un déficit de Rs 16,64 milliards en décembre 2023, en baisse de 3,8 % par rapport au mois précédent et de 12,4 % par rapport au mois correspondant de 2022.

AFRICA. Overcoming Debt, Security, and Environmental Challenges

As the African Union’s 37th Conference of Heads of State and Government convened in Addis Ababa, it became clear that Africa stands at a pivotal moment much more than before. The continent’s leaders, including Moussa Faki Mahamat and Ambassador Bankole Adeoye, voiced their concerns over the myriad challenges facing Africa, from political instability and security crises to economic hurdles that threaten its future. The conference underscored a commitment to democracy, with a firm stance against unconstitutional governance changes, evidenced by the suspension of six countries. However, the continent’s unity faces tests from internal divisions and the challenge of presenting a united front on international platforms like the G20.
