INICIA is the largest egg production and distribution company in the country, with an annual commercialization of over 85,000,000 eggs. Established in 1978, Inicia is recognized as a major player in the agro sector in Mauritius with activities in Eggs (Oeudor, Matines), Chick (Cobb, Hy-Line), Chicken (Marilyn, Label 60, Poulet Tantine), Duck (Terracine) and Vet & Pet products (Frontline, Beaphar, Big Dutchman). 

Inicia is the sole shareholder of Volailles Et Traditions Ltée, a company which produces three chicken brands, namely Label 60, Marilyn and Poulet Tantine. The three brands are exclusively distributed by Inicia. Founded by Jean-Baptiste Wiehe and Bernard Montocchio, the company has introduced the first-ever branded Mauritian egg and also grown vertically into related sectors such as chicken, chicks, duck, animal feed production, as well as farming equipment, veterinary, and pet products.

The company has approximately 250 employees to ensure its proper running. After numerous years of success, Inicia has achieved the label ‘Made in Moris’ under which it manufactures Oeudor, which was the first ever branded egg in Mauritius. Launched in 1978, Oeudor has since established itself as an affordable and quality product for the local market. Available in various sizes and packaging, Oeudor comes in three categories: Classic, Nature’s Gold and Free Range.
