MEDINE Distillery started its operation in 1926 for producing rum and vinegars for the local market and for export. It soon became one of the most important distillery in Mauritius, supplying high quality rums and alcohol to the local producers of alcoholic beverages.

Medine Distillery is also engaged in the production of matured rum, aged in oak barrels for a period of 4 to 13 years. This premium quality rum is sold under the Penny Blue brand name.

Vinegar has also been produced by the company since its establishment. The wellknown ‘Vinaigre de Medine’ has been used by all the Mauritian families for the last 90 years.

More recently, Medine Distillery launched a Household Vinegar which is a natural and ecological substitute for the imported cleaning products used in the house. This is an initiative to reduce impact on the environment and to promote the use of products manufactured locally from a local raw material, sugar cane.

Employing 40 people at Bambous, Medine Distillery is driven by its values know how, authenticity and innovation.
