Market posts gains during the week

The local market posted gains during the week (1-8 June 2015). The SEMDEX and the SEMTRI moved up by 1.08% at the end of the days under review.
The Total Return Index, SEMTRI, registered a growth of 69.86 points during the week, closing the session of Monday 8th June 2015 at 6,519.78 points. The All-share index, SEMDEX, ended the same session at 1,974.65 points, growing by 21.06 points at the end of the days under review. The SEM-10 index, which comprises the ten largest and most liquid stocks, closed at 374.96 points. The market capitalisation stood Rs 219.54 billion at market close on Monday.
Total transactions amounted to Rs 326.8 million during the week. The top five traded securities during the week were: SBM Holdings Ltd (SBMH), Omnicane Limited-Notes (OMNI Notes), CIM Financial Services Ltd (CIM), MCB Group Limited (MCBG) and LUX* Island Resorts Ltd. They were exchanged for a total value of Rs 171.3 million, Rs 39.9 million, Rs 33.7 million, Rs 22 million and Rs 11.8 million. The shares of SBMH, OMNI Notes, CIM, MCBG and LUX* closed at Re 0.94, Rs 99,859.70, Rs 9.78, Rs 207.25 and Rs 61.50 on Monday 8th June 2015.
An analysis of the evolution of the prices of listed stocks indicates that out of the 52 stocks figuring on the Official List, 15 moved up during the week, 26 remained stable and 11 went down. The best performing stocks for the week were: BlueLife Limited (+7.14%), MDIT Ltd (+3.61%), Phoenix Beverages Ltd (+2.94%), MCB Group Ltd (+2.60%) and New Mauritius Hotels Ltd (+2.02%). The worst performers were: Gamma-Civic Ltd (-2.68%), ENL Land Ltd (P) (-2.22%), Mauritius Oil Refineries Ltd (-2.11%), Rogers & Co. Ltd (-1%) and Innodis Ltd (-0.93%).
