Market registers gains during the week

The local stock market registered gains during the week under review (27 April - 4 May 2015). The SEMTRI and the SEMDEX went up +0.75% during this time frame.
The Total Return Index, SEMTRI, closed the session of Monday 4th May 2015 at 6,412.24 points, gaining 47.80 points during the week. The All-share index, SEMDEX, ended the same session at 1,950.99 points, adding 14.55 points in the same time frame. The SEM-10 index, which comprises the ten largest and most liquid stocks, closed at 370.54 points. The market capitalisation stood Rs 216.91 billion at market close on Monday.
Total transactions amounted to Rs 272 million during the week. The top five traded securities during the week were: SBM Holdings Ltd (SBMH), MCB Group Limited (MCBG), Phoenix Beverages Ltd (PBL), Sun Resorts Ltd (SRL) and Swan General Ltd (SGL). They were exchanged for a total value of Rs 126.2 million, Rs 107.4 million, Rs 7.1 million, Rs 5 million and Rs 3.5 million. The shares of SBMH, MCBG, PBL, SRL and SGL closed at Re 0.94, Rs 201.50, Rs 300.00, Rs 39.00 and Rs 345.00 on Monday 4th May 2015.
