This program is designed by Team SYNthesis (Mauritius & Africa), in collaboration with the University of Technology, Mauritius (UTM). It is a national management and leadership certification session that aims at raising the level of professionalism in the management of project and strategic plans.

“Achieve leadership levels”. Is the main objective of the Project Leadership Certification (PLC) programme. The final session in the 7th year of the programme will be held from the 4th to the 8th November, at Sugar Beach Hotel, Flic-en-Flac. The training will be conducted by the PLC Chief Instructor, Tan Chee Peng, who is also the founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Team SYNthesis and Business Technovise International. Other instructors from Mauritius and abroad will also intervene during the session.

The PLC, accredited by the Project Management Institute and the ACCA, is methodology-independent and is applicable to industries from all sectors. The course, which is approved by the MQA, mainly targets organisations’ key personnel. “The PLC programme uplifts people to the next level on the ‘S curve’. It will take leaders out of their comfort zone to be able to switch from one level to the next. It is a leadership commando course which focuses on attaining personal achievement and business result delivery,” Tan Chee Peng explains.

According to him, the PLC programme helps in turning successful people into more successful ones. Much emphasis is put on practical sessions. “The PLC programme is based on how to make things happen; it comes up with a new approach and puts people in the loops,” Tan Chee Peng adds.

The essence of the programme lies in the management of time, people, and good governance. “It is an intensive training which requires an exam on the very first day. We also give homework to the candidates. Most of them do not want to come back to the course on the first day, but also don’t want the course to end on the last one,” Tan Chee Peng says. “Those people are facing an exam after more than 20 years of career. The course is a means to shake them. This is how we get them to give out the best of themselves,” he adds.

As mentioned above, several experienced CEOs and business leaders from different industries will join the training as guest speakers to share their elements of success to the partakers.

The road to success

During this session, the guest speaker, for its part, will get into interactions with the attendees through desk participation and synchronization exercises. “We make sure to maintain good relationships and follow-ups with the participants, even when the course comes to an end. This aspect also forms part of the distinctiveness of the PLC,” Tan Chee Peng says.

As part of an ongoing recap process, even after the initial course sessions, quarterly PLC talks are organized by Team SYNthesis to discuss on several sectors. Yearly, gala dinners are also held to bring top management and CEOs from the largest institutions of Mauritius, and the region on the same platform. Besides, the 5th Annual Leadership Gala Dinner will be held on Friday 25th October at Le Meridien Hotel, Pointe-aux-Piments. “The forthcoming gala dinner’s theme will be ‘Inspiring the Future Through Entrepreneurial Innovation’. This event will serve as a networking and acquaintance renewal night. The outcome is to instill clarity of the importance of innovation in fostering collaborative leadership in transforming businesses and operations into greater ones,” Tan Chee Peng points out.

Registration for the PLC programme is done at the UTM and should be submitted before November 1st. The course is open to both Mauritian and overseas participants.
