Amity Higher School of Education Mauritius is a post-secondary private institution in Mauritius, accredited by the Tertiary Education Commission, providing quality education to students, with degree awarding powers.

Located at Mindspace Building in Ebène, Amity Higher School of Education (AIHE) Mauritius offers industry oriented programs in management, tourism, hospitality and distance learning, created by academicians and enterprise leaders, in a state-of-the-art environment.

Those programs serve as an ideal platform for the launch of one’s career and development as a truly global thought leader. With the aim of ensuring the student’s success, the institute provides the best mix of theory and practice to them. AIHE is part of Amity India Leading Education Group – institution which operates with 20 years of excellence, with more than 100,000 students trailing 240 programs spread across 150 institutions and 5 universities. Set up in 2010 in Mauritius and operational since September 2011, AIHE has 325 students already enrolled in 2 years’ time.

AIHE offers such courses as Bachelors in Business Administration, Tourism Administration, Finance and Investment Analysis, Information Technology, and Masters in Financial Management, Business Administration and International Business. New courses in several different fields such as ACCA, Bachelors in Nanotechnology, Biotechnology, and Computer Forensic, among others, will be offered to students by next year. Courses are offered both on full and part time basis. “At AIHE, we offer need-based programs relevant to a list from the government specifying the priority sectors where jobs are available. Our aim is to provide courses which will ensure employability to our students,” says Dr Dhananjay Keskar, Director of Amity Higher School of Education Mauritius. This is one of the major reasons why focus is put on the enhancement of employability skills at AIHE.

Industry academia interface

Aware and in response to the growing complexity of the business environment today, “AIHE emphasizes on industry academia interface,” points out Dr Dhananjay Keskar. Industry academia interface constitutes of bringing AIHE and industry closer to each other for creating synergies. Through this concept, AIHE strives to create productive academic alliances between the institution and industry sectors with a view to develop the curricula as per specific needs of the industry. “We have industry linkages with major industry players which gives AIHE students the opportunity to interact with potential employers during their course of study,” highlights Dr Dhananjay Keskar.

Additionally, all the courses offered by AIHE respond to global needs. The institute aims at becoming an internationally recognized one by “creating a global dimension where students from different countries of the world can come to AIHE to pursue their studies in an inter-cultural and international framework,” explains Naren Sukurdeep, Deputy Director of AIHE Mauritius. AIHE already has a population of mixed students from different countries such as Nigeria, Africa, Uganda, Hong Kong, Nepal, Bangladesh, Ghana, among others. “We want to create mobility for international students, and provide quality education, while acting as a global player in Mauritius which is becoming an education hub. Our principal mission at AIHE is to nurture talents. It’s all about people,” adds Naren Sukurdeep.

On a monthly basis, Policy Dialogue Forums, CEO Meets, Technical Forums, and Talent Shows are held at AIHE. “Different Ministers from different sectors come to animate the policy forums where distinct policies pertaining to professional sectors are discussed with the students. On the other hand, CEO Meets is concerned with people, mainly CEO’s and business leaders from different sectors who come to discuss and interact with the students about their respective sector, their growth, etc.,” states Naren Sukurdeep.

The Talent Shows and other extra-curricular activities are organized to give the students the opportunity to expose their talents, but also to create a pleasant environment where they can study, so that they can emancipate as professionals, as well as individuals. In the same context, AIHE encourages the development and initiative of its students by giving them carte-blanche on the production of AIHE’s newsletter. “Amity Mirror – the official newsletter of Amity is produced by the students themselves. It represents somewhat a reflection of their own life,” says Naren Sukurdeep. The institution offers free laptops to all newly enrolled students and free access to international journals in both hard and soft copies to all its students.
