Shaolin MasterClass 2015, a two-day residential retreat for the corporate clientele, is organised by Shaolin Mauritius and scheduled to take place later this year.

Inspiring corporate leaders and high performing individuals on a road less travelled towards inner peace, discipline and self-mastery by embracing Shaolin arts and Zen philosophy. Such is the aim of the Shaolin MasterClass, a two-day residential retreat for the corporate clientele organised by Shaolin Mauritius and scheduled to take place later this year.

The Shaolin MasterClass was launched in 2014 by Alexandra Ho, a Shaolin disciple and qualified trainer in qigong, tai chi Yang and Chen styles, sword and kung fu fan techniques. She got the opportunity to develop her know-ledge and skills in 2013 upon receiving a scholarship from the Chinese embassy to spend three months at the Shaolin Temple, in the mountains of Henan province, China. This entailed living at the monastery and training like a monk daily.

Inspired by her experience there, Alexandra Ho decided to share her knowledge with other people; the corporate clientele in particular. “Being usually a busy professional I find that practicing the Shaolin principles helps me in carrying out my duties, decision-making and staying ‘Zen’. It has been a life-changing experience for me. Shaolin is not just Kung Fu but a way of life and this is what I want to transmit to people,” she explains.

Alexandra Ho has thus developed, in collaboration with a senior Shaolin Master, Master Shiyambo, an exclusive corporate coaching which successfully integrates martial arts skills to enhance physical fitness and mental agility, Zen philosophy for enlightenment and creative problem-solving in our daily lives.

Shaolin Mauritius has so far set up courses for an organization regrouping Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) and entrepreneurs of Mauritius as well as for LUX* Resorts & Hotels. Courses where organized for 110 staff members of the hospitality group over one week. “My portfolio of clients includes company CEOs and senior management, heads of departments and supervisory team members, with an equal interest in one-day workshop and two-day residential training,” shares Alexandra Ho. She will also be flying to Mumbai, India, soon to deliver the Shaolin MasterClass courses to an audience of high-profile Indian CEOs.

The retreat includes scheduled meditation and discussion time as well as the famous Art of Tea Ceremony, with the Shaolin Master. “We often notice that existential questions come to the forefront during discussion time,” observes Alexandra Ho. This, she insists, has a definite positive impact on the perspectives of the participants.

The Shaolin MasterClass 2015 targets “a niche clientele consisting mainly of high performing individuals on the lookout for a challenge and in search of inner peace and self-improvement. We often receive requests for follow up sessions. Participants are welcome even without any prior knowledge of kung fu,” says Alexandra Ho.
